Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)
India tends to simplify things and produce innovations that are cost-effective.Creating a strong innovation culture requires us to communicate and work togetherclosely. Entrepreneurship and innovation are critical for creating economicempowerment for a prosperous and peaceful world. Entrepreneurship is the processof starting a business; typically a startup company offering an innovative product,process or service. An entrepreneur perceives an opportunity and often exhibitsbiases in taking the decision to exploit the opportunity.
In a major leap towards encouraging the entrepreneurship among its students, ShriVaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, Indore (SVVV, Indore) has launched theEntrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) to support and facilitate thedevelopment of the next generation of business leaders. The EDC is aimed atenabling SVVV to become the hub of entrepreneurship in the region. EDC ismanaged by the students of SVVV for manifesting the entrepreneurial spirit ofyoung students.
SVVV has always been a hotbed for innovative thinkers, and EDC offers a newchannel to transform breakthrough ideas into viable business ventures. EDC aimsto create a structured platform that strengthens the entrepreneurial ecosystem intechnology business incubation by providing support to the larger SVVVfraternity. The Cell focuses on inviting on board experienced industry leaders, successful entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers, who can guide theregistered students in terms of mentoring, advice, pitching proposals and more.SVVV has designed and developed mechanisms and bodies to help create newenterprises that employ technologies developed by its faculty and students. It, thus,offers a conducive environment in which new ideas can be generated, researched,and nurtured before they become industry ready.
The activities of the Cell cover entrepreneurship value chain to include micro-grants and networking with established entrepreneurs and industry leaders. It is managed by an Advisory Board comprising faculty members, industryprofessionals, renowned international experts on entrepreneurship and studentrepresentatives. Having round the year events, such as expert lectures, StartupWeekend powered by Google for entrepreneurial activities, events, competitions,and Jugaad conducted to inculcate a startup mindset among students, EDC aims atan all round development of all its members so that they are fully prepared for theirfuture endeavors. It also supports and incubates many startups.
